Our coconuts are not collected from one plantation, they are collected wildly from coconut trees planted many years ago in Fiji. Cocofiji coconut oil is extracted from fresh coconut flesh and is not processed from dried copra which may be months old. Our oil is made within 1 hour of cracking the coconut. It has a rich natural coconut taste and beautiful smell. It is cholesterol-free and contains medium-chain good fats with 54% Lauric Acid that has been linked to lowering cholesterol and weight loss.

Fijian coconuts are typically wild trees that were planted decades ago (many years). Their fruit of more than 75 million coconuts is Fiji are largely left on the ground where they fall. All it takes is someone to collect the nuts (coconuts that is) and either sell them to a local virgin coconut oil producer or invest in some basic equipment to make the oil themselves. By creating a market for coconut oil the spin effects of this are endless to local communities. It creates an income for the person collecting the nuts by creating a market for the coconut oil. It creates an income for the production of the oil. It creates an income for all the people involved in making and distributing the oil. Regardless of the health benefits of virgin coconut oil, the feel good aspect of knowing that the purchase of the oil has helped local micro-businesses and locals is a great thing for humanity. It stops people drifting to the cities, such as Suva in Fiji, and keeps generations of families on the land. We need to help keep these custodians of the land on their lands and not allure them to the commercialisation of city life. There are enough cities in the world with the associated problems and pollution. The irony is, it is often in these city confines that we then fence off an area call it certified organic.
Cocofiji is sourced exclusively from Fiji. For this reason, we have called our brand Cocofiji, meaning we can only source our oil from Fiji. Many brands in the market source their oil from multiple sources and may mix these oils together from different sources. Sri Lanka is one of the cheapest source of coconut oil due to its typically centralised process of manufacture, as well as making much coconut oil which is not virgin (Refined, bleached and deodorised oil – RBD oil). Sri Lankan oil producers are more mechanised and centralised than the pacific producers. This centralisation does not offer the benefits at the local level to the same extent as VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil) oil from Fiji, the Solomon islands, Vanuatu and Papua Nuigini, Samoa, or other Islands that are using a micro business structure to produce the coconut oil.
